Synology launches new 12-bay Diskstation NAS to fulfill both enthusiasts and small business storage needs

Synology has unveiled the latest 12-bay unit NAS, the DiskStation DS2622xs+ and DS2422+ together with the DX1222 companion expansion unit to further deliver storage potential against growing computing power in a desktop form factor product.

But that’s where the difference ends so we’ll talk about the similarities. Both units can be expanded with 10/25Gb network interface cards to improve transfer throughput or slotting in NVMe SSD as a hot data cache to further increase the random I/O performance and the best thing of all is through combo cards, you can enjoy both performance upgrade through a single PCIe 3.0 slot. And of course, both machines run DSM 7.0, the latest OS version to date. Lastly, the DX1222 is the expansion unit to compliment the two NAS for easy and upgradeable storage.
